Data Retention & Deletion

This page explains what data TECHnique stores, how long we keep it, and how you can request its deletion. For the full privacy policy, see our Privacy Policy.
What Data We Store

Data Stored Only on Your Device
The following data is stored only on your iPhone and is never sent to our servers:
- Biometric lock preference — whether you've enabled Face ID / Touch ID unlock
- Cached motion data — a local cache of 3D skeleton data for faster loading
- Character preference — your selected 3D character model
This data is cleared when you log out or delete the app.
How to Delete Your Data
Delete your entire account
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data directly within the app:
- Open TECHnique and go to Profile
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account
- Confirm the deletion twice (this is intentional to prevent accidents)
This action is permanent. When you delete your account, we delete your user record, all routines, all practice runs, all videos, all motion data, all scores, and all diamond transaction history. This cannot be undone.
Delete a single routine
To remove a specific routine without deleting your account:
- Open the routine's detail screen
- Tap the trash icon and confirm deletion
- The routine, its motion data, all practice runs, and all associated videos are permanently removed
Request deletion via email
If you cannot access the app, you can request account deletion by emailing support@techniquedance.ai from the email address associated with your account. We will process your request within 30 days.
What Happens After Deletion
- Account data is removed from our servers immediately upon deletion
- Cached data on your device is cleared automatically when you log out
- Backups containing your data are purged within 30 days
- We do not retain anonymized or aggregated versions of your data after deletion
- Diamond purchases made through Apple are governed by Apple's refund policy — we cannot reverse App Store transactions
Data We Never Store
- Location data
- Contacts or address book
- Browsing history
- Advertising identifiers
- Data from other apps on your device
